Self-Reliant Immediate Investments

Bina Swadaya Teaches Members to Invest Using Self-Help Groups

Bina Swadaya is an ongoing social enterprise that encourages the underprivileged living in Indonesia to become self-reliant through self-help groups and micro financing.

In order to become self-reliant, Bina Swadaya teaches its members to invest money they earn through the social enterprise’s printing services and other tourism and community developmental areas into a pool. By making small but gradual monthly contributions, the pool eventually becomes large enough to invest in a local project whereby additional funds or profits can be returned to the members, or investors, or invested into subsequent projects. This method allows the members of Bina Swadaya to collaborate and join efforts but also employs a more immediate method of micro financing by using locals to fund these projects rather than strangers worldwide.
