Ron Arad Reinvents the Wheel with His Sprung Steel Bike

It's not the first time in his career as a ground-breaking designer that Ron Arad has reinvented the wheel, so to speak. This bespoke bicycle design was created by the Israeli born designer as part of a fundraising event organised by the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the W hotel chain.

Arad's masterful design 'Two Nuns' uses sprung steel for its wheels in a repetitive ribbon like design. Amazingly the bike is fully functional.

Six other people known to be at the top of their creative field were asked to reinterpret the classic 'boris blue' bike used by Londoner commuters into a functional work of art. The bikes were then used by vistors to the W hotel. Check out the video above for one visitors fun ride through the streets of London on Ron bespoke bicycle.
