Beijing Olympic Furniture

Bird's Nest Inspired X Lounger

The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games have invaded just about everything, from fashion magazines to condoms. Not to be left out, furniture designers want a piece of the Olympic pie as well. The X Lounger is heavily influenced by the Beijing Olympic stadium, known as the Bird’'s Nest.

The creative design by the very talented designer Timothy Schreiber uses a single ray that is traced along a periodic double curved surface. It is very simple, yet it looks very complex. The seat is made by hand, not by machine.
