The SK Hynix Beetle X31 Features a Golden Scarab-Like Design

The Beetle X31 is a portable SSD from SK Hynix, a leading memory manufacturer from South Korea. It has a compact and sleek design that resembles a golden scarab, measuring only 74 x 46 x 14.8 mm and weighing 53 grams. It features a USB Type-C port that supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) transfer speeds, and an internal NVMe SSD that uses PCIe 3.0 x2 interface. The internal SSD has a unique single-chip solution that integrates the NAND flash, the SSD controller, and some kind of DRAM.

The Beetle X31 is available in two capacities: 512 GB and 1 TB. The 1 TB model has a suggested retail price of 138,000 Korean won, or around US$103. It also comes with an optional protective case as an accessory. The Beetle X31 is SK Hynix’s first portable SSD product and it was launched in May 2023. It is currently only available in Korea, but it will become available in North America on June 26th, 2023.
