Amsterdam's Beacon Mile Directs Tourists to Points of Interest

Amsterdam's Beacon Mile is the world's first beacon-guided city walk designed to inform tourists during their exploration of the city. Designed to serve as an open and public test environment for beacons and LoRa-enabled sensor beacons, the initiative is a joint project of Glimworm and KPN, who are aiming to kick-start the capital city's Internet of Things economy.

Stretching from Amsterdam Central Station to Marineterrein, the Beacon Mile is accessible with the Amsterdam Beacon Mile Explorer App, available for download in the iTunes store.

Part of a larger Smart Cities project, Amsterdam's Beacon Mile provide tourists with detailed information on points of interest. Points of interest currently highlighted on the Beacon Mile city walk include the NEMO Science Museum, the Maritime Museum and the New Public Library.
