Blancpain Unveils the Classic Fifty Fathoms Barakuda Watch

Blancpain recently relaunches the Barakuda watch, which is one of the oldest iterations of the Fifty Fathoms' NOVELTIES umbrella. It is drawn from a rich heritage, honoring the frogmen of Germany, functioning as a durable diving timepiece for underwater military members.

This particular model was worn by the German Navy, also known as the Bundesmarine. It was also available to the public in a civilian version, making it one of the most sought after collectibles. The re-issues design is similar, but it boasts some differences in terms of the specifications. The black dial is retained with the dual tonal markers, arriving without the radioactive Tritium. In place of that are some faux-aged plots in a cream color and the case is replaced with a slimmer design measuring out to be 40mm.
