These Lights are Made Using a Balloon Sculpture Technique

These balloon sculpture lights by Davide G. Aquini are created like paper mache crafts. 'The Fragiles' series is made from stucco and cement, creating delicate eggshell-like sculptures. These materials are applied directly to the surface of a blown-up balloon, which is popped or deflated after the stucco or cement has hardened.

Due to the way these pieces are sculpted, each one is completely unique and includes its own imperfections. In addition to their fragility, the rough edges of the sculptures give them even more egg-like traits.

The balloon-made sculptures are set into wire frames that serve to two purposes: to protect the delicate shell form and provides support for the LED light inside. These open-frame pieces showcase the forms of the egg-like lights beautifully.
