If the Spring 2011 and Resort 2011 seasons were all about color-blocking, the Balenciaga Resort 2012 runway presentation indicates that 2012 will be all about matching single-hued staples with kaleidoscopic prints in every shade of the rainbow.
Designer Nicolas Ghesquiere also did away with lean silhouettes, opting for full A-line skirts, poufy shorts and elongated, knee-length hemlines on dresses and skirts. The Balenciaga Resort 2012 collection also featured a bit of tasteful layering, with dresses worn over T-shirts or cardigans worn atop tank tops. The sun visor also made a triumphant return, topping off several looks in the runway show.
I'm a big fan of the trippy patterns seen throughout the Balenciaga Resort 2012 collection -- what a refreshing change from the color-blocking we've seen all year thus far!
