Organic Column Installations

The Baitogogo by Henrique Oliveira is Like a Bursting Forest

The Baitogogo art installation appears as though Mother Nature has decided to fight back against the restraints imposed by humankind. In this case, she directs her energy towards wood columns, turning them back into their natural forms. The result is a bursting forest of natural and painted wood, a visual depiction of the struggle between man and nature.

In reality, the Baitogogo installation was created by Brazilian artist Henrique Oliveira, not Mother Nature. Known for his mind-boggling transformations of both indoor and outdoor spaces, Baitogogo is no exception. The Baitogogo installation was recently installed at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France. The gallery writes, "The artist draws inspiration from medical textbooks, amongst others, and particularly from studies of physical pathologies such as tumors. Through a formal analogy, these outgrowths evoke the outermost layers of the bark of a common tree."
