Deconstructed Backless Chairs

This Chair Appears to Be Made Up of a Single Piece of Wood

This backless chair designed by Jan Waterston upturns the notion of what chairs are supposed to look like.

The design of the 'Velo Chair' was inspired by the way some bicycles are now built, as they appear to "wrap around the user." This backless chair does the same thing, with a wooden frame that acts as both a backrest and armrest in an unusually shaped design. While the chair appears to be made up of a single piece of carved wood, it actually has barely visible joints that connect the backrest and legs of the chair to its seat.

This piece of furniture functions as a deconstructed design concept and would be well suited in homes that prefer unconventional but modern designs.
