Lovely Cone-Mounted Lights

The Aurora Lamp Makes a Beautiful Base to Feature its Iconic Lightbulb

It may not seem this way at first, but the creators of the Aurora Lamp took the opportunity to make something fundamentally utilitarian into something beautiful. Of course, one might argue that an elaborate vase bottom or a flamboyant lampshade would better satisfy this sort of statement.

Nevertheless, a light fixture is merely a globe and a socket in its most basic form, so the carving of a flaring conical base is an effective and elegant way to dress up such a useful object. The Good Flock made these pieces in Oregon from black and white oak wood with 100% tung oil finishes. Without drawing too much attention to itself, the smoothly sanded mount acts as a pedestal to present the all-important source of light.
