Audi's Safety Code Hopes to Stop Distracted Driving

Audi's Safety Code is hoping to reduce the prevalence of distracted driving through offering an easy-to-install script that limits one's ability to visit websites while driving.

The code uses GPS data to detect when an individual is traveling at a speed of more than 20 kilometers per hour. If this speed is detected, and an individual with the script attempts to open a webpage, a pop-up will appear asking the individual to confirm whether or not they're the driver of the vehicle. If "I'm not the driver" is selected, individuals may resume browsing the web. Although it's simple for an individual to click the prompt that would allow them to use their phones, the pop-up window hopes to make drivers think twice before partaking in distracted driving.
