Athletes As Religious Figures

Tiger Woods Walks on Water in EA Sports Ad

Tiger Woods gets the Jesus treatment in a new ad for EA Sports' Tiger Woods PGA Tour video game. After a fan video was posted on YouTube calling out a glitch in the new game that permitted Tiger Woods to hit a ball while standing in the water hazard, EA Sports responded with this commercial.

In it, Tiger Woods hits a golf ball onto a lilypad in the water hazard. He calmly removes his shoes, walks over to the ball, dips his club into the water and hits the ball cleanly into the hole.

This isn't the first time a celebrity athlete has been likened to Jesus. In an upcoming musical, The Theater of Dreams, UK soccer team Manchester United is portrayed as the new religion of the masses, with superstar David Beckham at its helm.
