This US Army Drone Delivers 3D-Printed Pizzas to Men and Women in the Field

Research and reconnaissance are two practical uses of an army drone, but UAVs are also suited for transporting cargo. In addition to getting supplies from point A to point B, a United States Army facility called Natick Soldier Systems Center is using drones to make sure that men and women on the force are well-fed.

With slim food options that are often limited to meals that have shelf lives of about three years, soldiers are not always treated to the tastiest food. In order to remedy this, the inventive US facility began to create 3D-printed pizzas on-demand and deliver them piping hot to soldier outposts by drone. Like many popular pizza delivery services, one drone pilot claims: "If I can't get it there in a half an hour or less, it's free."
