Students at the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan are addressing the lack of water access in tropical climates with the creation of 'AQUAIR' -- a portable water-harvesting device which pulls fresh water from fog.
Made with locally sourced materials, AQUAIR is both easy to use and simple to assemble. The device, which features a mesh fabric stretched across a bamboo structure, collects water vapor from the air, into a bucket through a tube with an integrated fan. Designed to be used in remote mountainous regions, this device poses as a functional alternative for those living in climates where access to natural water is scarce.
The students plan to take the design to Honduras, to to help introduce the device to the local community.
