PURAFILM Deactivates Pathogens on Non-Porous Interior Surfaces

From self-sanitizing fabrics to shopping cart handles, a variety of products have been created to minimize the spread of germs and bacteria and PURAFILM takes the form of a new antimicrobial product. This transparent film was made to deactivate the pathogens that are commonly found on non-porous interior surfaces, including everything from door handles and desks to kitchen islands and TV remotes.

New Energy and Industry Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and the University of Tokyo worked together on PURAFILM, a toxic-free, easy-to-apply film that reacts to visible light. Thanks to its form, the product can be cut and shaped to suit different surfaces to offer an effortless extra layer of protection. The film sets itself apart from sprays, liquids and wipes because it's non-messy and does not need to be constantly reapplied.
