Created by Brad Troemel, the psychedelic hanging screens feature 12 total farms filled with ants burrowing through a colorful, translucent non-toxic dye that provides both nutrition and transportation for the critters inside. The art exhibition is currently on display at the Tomorrow Gallery in New York.
The neon jello ant farms are unusual in more ways than one. Every colony represents a charitable organization, from the Earth Liberation Front to Planned Parenthood. When the exhibit comes to an end, the artist will weigh the amount of gel excavated by the different farms. The top three gel-shifters will have 10% of the show's profits split divided by three to go toward their causes.
