WWF's 'Animal Copyrights' Turns Wild Creatures into Creators

You might not know it from initially looking at the photos in the WWD and LatinStock database, but all of the footage has actually been captured by a colorful and diverse range of animal photographers.

After a selfie photo of a monkey went viral in 2011, a 2014 court ruling stated that neither the photographer who owned the camera or the animal could claim rights to the image. Inspired by this clear display where "animal rights" is lacking, Animal Copyrights was created.

By equipping animals with cameras that they could take into the fields, seas, mountains and skies, the animals are able to get footage that humans just can't. Each stock photo that is purchased is donated back to animals so that they can continue to thrive and live without endangerment in the world.
