Google's AMP Stories Hope to Change the Way Users Search On the Platform

Google will be changing the way search results work with the introduction of AMP Stories. These Accelerated Mobile Pages are essentially optimized web pages that can load quickly on smartphones and use ten times less data. Google is hoping to offer for of these AMPs, but also wants to do so in a video-oriented format. Google has already partnered with CNN, Conde Nast, Hearst, Mashable, Meredith, Mic, Vox Media and The Washington Post in creating AMP Stories, but this innovation is an open-source project allowing non-partnered publishers the chance to join in.

AMP Stories is not set to launch quite yet, but Google will slowly begin rolling out the service over time. Google has yet to explain how these stories will surface, unless users specifically search for them, nor have they explained to publishers how they can have their content appear in search results. This may not sound promising, but publishers are already excited for the project and hope to revolutionize the way search results appear.
