Design Studio Ambos&& Used Laser Projection as Christmas Tree Decor

During the holidays, most families find their dusty box of ornaments, Christmas balls and other trinkets to deck out their tree, but design studio Ambos&& opted for a more creative option -- laser projection.

Projection mapping often involves projecting images on non-white and non-flat surfaces. Although this technology is traditionally used for large-scale installations, Ambos&& decided to apply these concepts to a standard Christmas tree. Ambos&& developed the specific software required to illuminate a tree in this manner almost accidentally. The studio adapted an earlier study by a designer from the firm whose project involved a live data flow visualization on a natural tree.

The results are visually stimulating, and this contemporary and technology-focused project may predict the future of Christmas tree decor.
