Amazonian Warrior Covers

"Elevation" by Dazed Digital Magazine

The quirky and flamboyant fashion designer Gareth Pugh and photographer Nick Knight designed Dazed Digital Magazine's October 2008 cover "Elevation." The result is nightmarish, ethereal and totally phantasmagorical.

Abbey Lee, the model featured on the cover, "was covered in an array of unsavoury hair and make-up products including clay, charcoal, treacle and sand to create an Amazonian, warrior mood by make-up artist Alex Box and hair stylist Martin Cullen," says Dazed Digital.

As part of the magazine's spread, Pugh outfitted a black horse with armor which is very similar in its form to the designer's trademark "hard-edged structure," notes Dazed Digital.
