Amazon is launching Amazon Transcribe Medical, as an expansion of its previously existing transcriptions service, Amazon Transcribe. Amazon Transcribe Medical will help doctors to transition their client notes into text, the service is able to operate live and does not require human oversight.
The system works through recording audio using a microphone, the audio is then sent to an API. After that, the API sends the user the transcribed text with all of the necessary punctuation.
What sets Amazon Transcribe Medical apart from comparable services is that users will not have to dictate their own punctuation. Instead, the system is able to note the speaker's punctuation on its own.
Amazon's new system streamlines the process for doctors transcribing medical notes.
