This Affordable Amateur Telescope Uses a Phone's Screen for Viewing

The 'EDG-TLS001' is an amateur telescope from Elecom that makes it possible for star-gazers of all ages to easily take quality photos of the stars, moon and planets.

The home telescope has a body that's made from a durable paper material, which keeps the costs of the unit down for production and shipping. Inside the device there's an achromatic lens with a 35x optical zoom, which serves to amplify the capabilities of a smartphone's magnification 140 times.

The assembled device includes a slot for a smartphone, so rather than looking through the lens of the telescope, amateur astronomers are able to get a clear view of the night sky just by looking at the screen of a phone.
