Disease-Battling Video Games

Cascade Uses Gaming to Increase Alzheimer's Disease Education

This inventive new video game gives children Alzheimer's Disease education. In Cascade, science acts as the narrative and raises awareness for a disease that affects 1 in 20 people over the age of 65.

What begins as a typical tower defense game teaches youth about Alzheimer's as they realize they are in fact defending brain cells. Their defensive tactics are based on current treatment options and preventative measures in use today.

Designed by Gaz Bushell, a video game designer at Fayju and Dr. Jody Mason, a biochemist and senior lecturer at the University of Essex, Cascade uses an extremely common youth past time as an opportunity for Alzheimer's Disease education. The science fiction themed game will be released this June.
