Alyson Hannigan Gave Up Her Vegan Diet While Pregnant

Alyson Hannigan, who just had a baby girl, revealed that she gave up her vegan diet while pregnant. Not only

"I basically went from being a vegan to… now it’s meat and cheese — and ginger ale!" said Alyson Hannigan, who you may remember from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Pie (band camp girl) or How I Met Your Mother. "Ginger ale, I love. Apparently, my mom craved ginger ale when she was pregnant with me! Maybe it’s a hereditary thing. But, yeah, I didn’t eat any meat or cheese before - now I have to."

Recently we featured an article on vegan pets, now we have the controversy of vegan vs. meat-eating moms-to-be.

Interestingly, if someone hs been a vegetarian (or vegan) for a long period of time, the body’s tendency is to reject meat because it lacks the proper digestive enzymes to break down the proteins. Usually, people tend to throw up, but Alyson Hannigan was probably plagued with morning sickness anyway, so it may not have made a difference. Perhaps that’s the best time to make the switch back to animals products?

If Alyson Hannigan, who had her baby on her 35th birthday, switches back to her PETA-friendly ways, will we soon start hearing debates about vegan celebrity babies? We’ll have to wait and see!
