A Restaurant in Japan Tests Foreigners Reaction to Buckwheat

In order to raise awareness around the common buckwheat allergy, a restaurant in Japan created a collection of allergy-detecting temporary tattoos. Koyo-tei, one of the oldest restaurants soba restaurants in Sapporo, Japan, partnered with a dermatologist to create the product, which happened to take on beautiful and traditional Japanese designs. Interesting fact, buckwheat allergy is to Japan what peanut allergy is to the United States.

Through these allergy-detecting temporary tattoos, which are applied using soba-yu, a broth made from boiling soba, people are able to see if they too suffer from the allergy. If they do, their skin will turn red. Koyo-tei hopes to distribute these temporary tattoos across Japan. For now, they were created for an event a couple months ago.
