The theme behind Stacey Bendet's Alice + Olivia Fall 2014 collection is simple, but brilliant. Bendet borrows from esteemed playwright William Shakespeare, naming the collection and accompanying lookbook 'Enchanted: A Midwinter Night's Dream.' Beyond riffing on the name of one of his most well-known plays, the collection also features looks that emerge from the style of the Victorian era.
The intention behind the collection was to marry the conservative Victorian aesthetic with a more free-spirited, bohemian vibe. Filled with decadent fabrics (think velvet,) rich brocades, bold metallics and resplendent lace, the collection accomplishes a luxurious yet wearable vibe.
The color palette takes on royal hues of emerald greens, regal reds and sapphire blues; however, their intensity is softened by whimsical butterfly motifs, lacy collars, ruffled sleeves and relaxed, slouchy trousers.
