In-Flight Bunk Beds

Airbus Bunk Beds are Set to Change Comfort in Air Travel

Air travel is often marred by cramped and uncomfortable seating, but the new installation of Airbus bunk beds could make long flights that much more bearable. Created alongside Plasir-based Zodiac Aerospace, this new concept would be featured in the lower decks of the plane -- commonly used for cargo. The Airbus bunk beds would be part of many other modules designed to make air travel less of a chore and more geared towards passenger comfort.

Some of the other modules proposed by Airbus include a welcome room, a children's playroom and a meeting room. The purpose of each room is not set in stone, as the spaces can be entirely customized and changed to suit the needs of the flight or airline. According to Airbus, the various modules could be introduced on A330 aircraft as soon as 2020, and both companies are already looking into implementing these comfort solutions to the larger A350 aircraft. The Airbus bunk beds have already been shown to multiple airlines and have already received positive feedback from early mock-ups.
