Bladeless Boat Engines

The Air Booster Motor Propels Without Risk of Injuring Fish

If you weren't warned as a child, you've probably figured out by now that boat motors are serious safety hazards for anyone or anything in the water that surrounds them. The Air Booster Motor has been designed to pose less of a risk to marine life, swimmers and divers by eliminating the propellor component.

Instead of integrating sharp spinning blades that you'll typical find in the base of the motorboat engine, the Air Booster Motor has small inner turbines and the capacity to pressurize and expel gas. It draws air in from the front and sends it down and outwards at a great speed to provide thrust and power. This concept by HoYeon Kim, Gangyoon Chang, Jiman Lee and Kiwon Lee is based on Bernoulli's Principle, though it would certainly require some cutting-edge engineering in order for it to function.
