Ahluwalia Studio Looks to Heritage for Inspiration the SS20 Season

Ahluwalia Studio is a new fashion label by Priya Ahluwalia, who was this year's H&M Design Award winner. She designed a Spring/Summer 2020 collection for the emerging brand and the looks draw inspiration from her roots of Nigeria and India.

She looks towards her old family portraits to capture the essence in the most authentic form possible. She informs fabrics with prints of her family photos, with a highlighting image of her grandfather in colorful hues found on a pair of pants. Additionally, there are also themes that surround 90s garage music culture, which was a prominent scene in the designer's London upbringing. The looks are styled with Elena Croce jewelry as well, who uses repurposed metal materials, Invicta backpacks, Burlington socks, and adidas trainers.
