Photographer Roger Kisby photographed adult performers at this year's Adult Video News awards -- and no, not in the way you're thinking.
Kisby explains his intent with each image by saying, "I wanted to do portraits of the performers, to do something that was authentic and honest that would strip away — no pun intended — their outer performer aspects and [get at] who they are." With only a few minutes with each star, Kisby opted for uncomplicated lighting and straightforward angles to get the most authentic shot in as little time as possible.
While some performers felt natural in Kisby's presence right away, others immediately shied back into their "porn performer" pouts for the camera. Kisby was challenged with the task of coaxing the performers out of their go-to poses in an effort to get a more intimate shot.
