Artist and musician Adam Green (he's one half of the band The Moldy Peaches) has returned to the art scene with his latest series, 'Hot Chicks,' on display at NYC's The Hole Gallery.
Green began drawing his "hot chicks" while on tour, jokingly trying to create something his bandmates would find arousing. When the tour ended, he was compelled to continue, and thus, the series was born.
Rather than adhering to conventional beauty standards, Green's oil, crayon and pencil canvases explore the female form in a unique and abstract way; one that is, in some ways, slightly perverse. Most importantly, Green's work is not meant to be "hot"; it's meant to question what "hot" is in terms of physicality, sexuality and femininity.
