This Unusual Acrylic Chair Was Inspired by French House Music

Juliette Mutzke-Felippelli recently designed an unusual acrylic chair that pays homage to French house music from the 1990s. Artists such as Daft Punk and Cassius are already known for changing the music industry with their experimental sounds, but now these groups are influencing a very different medium.

Mutzke-Felippelli's iridescent chair is made from a combination of CNC-cut acrylic and dichroic film. To gives the chair its unique shape, she fixed the materials in place with steel bolts. The inspiration behind the chair comes from Daft Punk's 1997 album Alive, which combined disco samples and filters to produce an experimental sound. Mutzke-Felippelli's acrylic chair reflects this production method with its iridescent film, which creates a colorful spectrum when the light hits it.
