Across a Ravaged Land by Nick Brandt is a Savagely Serene Photo Series

The words 'savage' and 'serene' might contradict each other, but that is exactly what the Across a Ravaged Land photo series is. Capturing a world few are privy to, it depicts the untamed side of West Africa. As real as it gets, the images will nevertheless bring to mind the classic Disney movie, 'The Lion King,' for the amount of character displayed throughout.

The Across a Ravaged Land photo series was shot by Nick Brandt, who apparently hasn't deemed it necessary to branch out of his signature grayscale style as his past Creative Nature series shows. In this series, however, Brandt focuses primarily on the epidemic of poachers. As written on Wikipedia, "Brandt captures the trophies in these epic landscapes and the images of perfectly preserved creatures calcified by the salts of the Rift Valley soda lake."
