Malou Palmqvist Challenges the Laws of Nature with These Pieces

Swedish designer Malou Palmqvist releases the 'Balanced Collapse' capsule which presents a number of interesting, abstract clay sculptures that seek to capture attention through their form. The geometric-heavy range spotlights amorphous shapes that appear to be delicately balanced on top of one another in a fairly non-intuitive way.

Malou Palmqvist aimed to explore the restrictions of the "fundamental laws of nature" through this collection of objects. The visual effect of the abstract clay sculptures relies on shifting the traditional dynamic of "hard, rigid material" and making it appear as "weightless, almost as if it is hovering in space."

The designer's organic clay shapes are directly inspired by "rock formations in the Gothenburg archipelago [...] and the misshapen pieces of rubbish that wash up at its shores."
