RIBA Asks Four Architects to Re-Imagine the Communal Commode

In connection with BBC’s Radio Four, RIBA asked five architecture firms to re-imagine the public toilet.

An interesting goal considering the relatively standard design of public toilets, the challenge was issued because RIBA noted that public toilets were once a place to show off local architecture, and is now more of a public eye sore. The five architecture firms came up with incredibly different design ideas, with some opting for cool sculptural design, one firm design around a fountain, and one using a cement head.
