A Bank Gives its ATMs a Makeover to Support the LGBT Community

Finding the most creative way possible to show their support for the LGBT community and celebrate the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the ANZ bank gave its ATMs a colorful and bedazzling makeover and renames them GAYTMs.

Turning their cash-dispensing machines into bold symbols of diversity and respect not only gains the bank a lot of points in the LGBT community and the younger generation, it also gives plain old ATMs a little bit of flair.

Using rhinestones, sequins, denim and leather on their Sydney branch GAYTMs, the bank’s efforts to connect with customers is bound to pay off big time.

"ATMs are a key touch point between us and our customers, so we’ve transformed the experience of getting cash out into something fun and in the spirit of the Mardi Gras festival," says Carolyn Bendall, head of Australian marketing for ANZ.
