The ’80s Rock exhibit at Grammy Museum Mississippi honors one of pop culture’s most flamboyant periods, spotlighting the rise of glam and hair metal with artifacts from Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses, Def Leppard, Ozzy Osbourne, Lita Ford, Poison, and more.
Some of the showcased items include Ozzy Osbourne’s stage costume, a smashed Guns N’ Roses bass, and Def Leppard’s Washburn bass. The immersive gallery also recreates the façade of L.A.’s Whisky a Go Go as a photo opportunity, and features images by photographer Mark Weiss. "We’re here to give the bands of hair metal and glam metal their due credit," said executive director Emily Havens.
Opening to the public September 26, with a VIP reception on the 25th featuring Twisted Sister, the exhibit will remain on view through 2026. Visitors step into the excess, flair, and energy of the ’80s, tracing how loud guitars and larger-than-life visuals built a legacy that still rocks today.
