Giving cookie cravings a lot of weight and upgrading the tech behind them, Oreo is doing the impossible and making edible 3D-printed Oreos a reality for the South by Southwest Interactive festival.
Created by vending machines with a three-dimensional printing system, the 3D-printed Oreos are now available thanks to the partnership between Mondelēz International and Twitter. Oreo fans will now be able to have "deliciously hyper-personalized and customized snacks based on real-time data collection," says the team at Mondelēz.
Users at the festival will be able to browse trending flavors and choose from 12 flavors that they then can actually then watch as their customized cookies get built -- the whole process takes just two minutes.
"Now, we're connecting trending moments to the cookie itself," says Bonin Bough, vp of global media at Mondelēz.
