This Cutting-Edge Local Motors Creation is Now Production-Ready

At the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, attendees were able to see the famous Strati 3D-Printed Car constructed right before their eyes. The manufacturer, Local Motors, has performed this stunt before; however, this time, the hype is much more pronounced. Why? Because you'll very soon be able to purchase your own.

In just 44 hours, everything that can be built into the largely one-piece vehicle can be created using BAAM (big area additive manufacturing) printing technology from ABS plastic. Some of the interior, all of the exterior body and the chassis of the 3D-Printed Car are all formed together, with parts like the Renault motors and the battery inserted separately. As of NAIAS 2015, the company is well on its way to getting this once-concept car road legal.
