This Innovative Printer Can Make Full-Sized Body Parts

There have been endless breakthroughs with 3D printing since the dawn of the 3D printer, but a 3D bio-printer is the latest innovation to surpass all the wonders of the aforementioned technology.

Recently, scientists from the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine explained how they managed to successfully create a 3D bio-printer that is smart enough to actually produce replacement tissue capable of being used in transplant surgery. So far the revolutionary device has managed to print cartilage structures, an ear, jaw bone and muscle tissue. According to the Wake Forest team, this 3D bio-printer functions much like the usual 3D printer. However, instead of using metals, plastics and resins, bio-printers use special bio-materials that closely approximate functional, living tissue.

While the 3D bio-printer is a breakthrough in science, it also serves as a revolutionary device in modern medicine.
