Attention all architects and designers, there is an alarmingly high number of people without adequate housing worldwide and the $300 House is a new project that is attempting to combat this! The project's aim is to create liveable housing for the poorest people around the world.
According to the $300 House website, the project's goals are to "design a simple dwelling that can be constructed for under $300 which keeps a family safe, allows them to sleep at night, gives them both protection from the elements and a sense of dignity."
Designers, architects and even students are welcomed to submit their proposals for the $300 House up until May 26th, 2011. Not only will winners receive up to $25,000 in prizes, but anyone who participates can have the satisfaction of knowing they are helping to solve this global problem.
