Porsche Released a Software Update for the Taycan that Extends Range

Porsche stated that it has created a new software update for its upcoming range of 2023 Taycan electric vehicles that will help extend the range of each model. The update results in improved battery management by removing parasitic battery losses from one of the two engines while the other is not in use. According to Porsche, even while only one motor is being operated in a dual-motor model, the other motor continues to receive a portion of electric power which is simply wasted. This new update significantly reduces this power, resulting in anywhere from seven to 29 more kilometers per charge, based on the specific Taycan model.

In addition to improving its upcoming Porsche Taycan series, the automaker noted that this software update can also help previous Porsche electric vehicles in the same range. It is important to note that this software update cannot be downloaded remotely, requiring Porsche owners to stop by a local dealership to receive the improved battery economy.
