1 Balfour Place by KHBT Features a Continuous Ribbon of Walnut Wood

Four walls and a roof are sometimes not quite enough to aesthetically unite a cluster of different rooms in one dwelling. 1 Balfour Place by KHBT is a demonstration of how diverse interior spaces can be effectively married together through the use of a continuous element throughout.

This architectural firm did an utterly brilliant job refurbishing the Mayfair, London, flat. The walls, the ceilings and the built-in storage were finished in crisp white and the floors in a pale slate shade. This consistency might have been enough to unify the apartment from front foyer to office, but the walnut runner really takes it home. Spanning the entire length of 1 Balfour Place, the hardwood ribbon harmoniously connects disjointed levels as staircases and even terminates playfully as part of the kitchen countertop.
