What's a micro-trend?
Micro-trends are new ideas that spark bigger ideas, as opposed to the macro-trends we all know, like 'eco', 'outsourcing', and 'the rise of female purchasing power'.

What is trend spotting for?
Trend spotting (a.k.a. trend watching) is the science of identifying emerging shifts in our social behavior and aspirations, usually to inspire new products or ideas. The latest trends are driven by a range of factors, including fashion trends, pop culture, media, news, innovation, and the arts. Accordingly, when searching for inspiration, it is important to look both inside your industry AND beyond.
