ZDHC stands for Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals and involves a collaboration between some of the major brands in the fashion industry. "The objective of this commitment is to lead the apparel and footwear industry towards zero discharge of hazardous chemicals for all products across all pathways in our supply chains by 2020," writes the website. Some of those brands who have already signed include Adidas, Puma, Nike, G-Star Raw, H&M, Jack Wolfskin and Levi Strauss & Co. The group is currently accepting new signatures from retailers.
ZDHC involves what's called the Road to Zero in an effort to enact change on a more holistic and widespread level. The question of course is will the companies reach the goal and will it matter?
