AMD's Z1 and Z1 Extreme are Designed for Portable PCs

AMD announced the 'Z1' and 'Z1 Extreme' gaming-focused processors. These CPUs feature built-in APUs with impressive industry-leading graphics performance when compared to other integrated graphics processors. The Z1 Extreme features eight cores and 16 threads with 12 RDNA 3 graphics cores and a total of 24 MB cache. This results in roughly 8.6 teraflops of performance, which is nearly comparable to the 10 teraflops on the PlayStation 5.

The regular Z1 is slightly tuned down, featuring only six cores and 12 threads and 22mb of cache. This processor outputs roughly 2.8 teraflops, placing it in between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles in terms of performance. However, given that these processors were designed for handheld PCs and not for docked home consoles, the performance is more than sufficient. In fact, the Z1 Extreme was shown off in the 'ASUS ROG Ally,' and it is capable of playing modern AAA titles at high settings up to 120 fps.
