Dual-Entry Bookstores

Yueyue/Zhida Bookstore Project Features 2 Design Aesthetics

The rise of online literature is responsible for the declining bookstore industry, but the Yueyue/Zhida bookstore’ project in Shanghai is putting forth an effort to spark an interest in heading to a store to find a new book.

The thoughtfully designed space features two unique atmospheres that can be accessed through two entryways. The first space is for lovers of general literature, while the other focuses on topics like history and philosophy. Both environments blend into one another throughout the space as some rooms feature vibrant colorways and dynamic textiles mixed with old pine shelves and classic wooden desks.

The fusion of contemporary and more nostalgic designs helps different kinds of readers mingle with one another, while reviving the bookstore's aesthetic without compromising its integrity. Photo Credits: designboom, archdaily
