Sleeping Mermaid Sculptures

Yoshimasa Tsuchiya Creates Daintily Fantastical Art

I can't help but love Yoshimasa Tsuchiya's delicate, fantastical sculptures. As though straight out of an innocent fairytale or whimsical cartoon, they are both child-like and romantic.

A Japanese artist, Yoshimasa Tsuchiya's work is currently being exhibited at the Megumi Ogita Gallery in Tokyo. Titled 'Private Myth,' this series is made out of wood and is actually almost life-sized. A mixture of mythical creatures and exotic animals, I'm particularly drawn to Tsuchiya's interpretation of a mermaid.
