Yasuaki Onishi Uses Urea Compounds to Create

Japan-based artist Yasuaki Onishi set out on another liquid-like art expedition. Onishi tends to use urea materials to make his "dripping installations" so while adhering to his design principles, he created his latest work with crystallized urea compounds. The structure is surreal and resembles a rain shower frozen in time.

Titled 'Vertical Emptiness,' the installation features a mesh structure hanging from a ceiling that has been covered in the compounds. The artist covers the mesh in hot glue and the unique crystallized components and then lets them drip in between the mesh connectors all the way to the ground.

For an added effect, the Onishi covers the surrounding walls and windows in the urea. However, he adds a painting on the wall to contrast the completely white structure and to add a deeper "feeling of isolation."
